Magdalene Pilgrimage in France May 2020
This year the Pilgrimage is divided into three stages. If you join us for the first stage you can choose to add on stages two and three.
17th to 20th May
After meeting you at Marseille, we travel to the Hostelerlie at La St Baume, where we stay for four nights. This is place of peace and beauty is run by Dominican monks and sits high up at the base of the ancient forest, sacred to the Celts. In the beautiful chapel there are regular sung services held by the monks which may or may not want to dip into. There are only a few monks and they take care of Magdalene’s cave. All our simple but delicious meals are provided there, and we have our own meeting room where we can share and deepen our experience.
We will spend time in Magdalene’s cave where she is said to have spent the last 30 years of her life, in the forest and the surrounding countryside. We will also visit nearby St Maximum to visit the Basilica where Mary Magdalene’s skull is said to lie.
You will be taken back to Marseille airport if you are not joining stage 2.
21st to 23rd May
We travel to the beautiful medieval village of Dufort et Saint Martin de Sossenac in the Languedoc region, where we will stay in village houses for three nights. Our base will be Susie’s house, garden and converted barn where we will have time to integrate and absorb all we have received so far on our pilgrimage.
We will take you to a nearby airport if you are not joining stage 3.
24th to 25th May
One night and part of two days in sea view rooms at the sea-side town of St Maries de la Mer where Magdalene is said to have first arrived in France. There we join the annual Gitan festival celebrating the Saints Mary Jacobe and Mary Salome and the dark Sara – patron saint of gypsies. These were some of the companions who accompanied Mary Magdalene to Provence. Their statues are carried into the sea accompanied by men on the white Camargue horses and much singing and celebration! This is a wonderful festival of colour, music and ceremony.
If you have questions about any aspect of the retreat or workshops, please contact us. There are many possible ways to spend our time and exactly how we do this will unfold as we join with 'Her' energy. We will be shown creative routes to let go of all that stands in the way of the Spirit's path. We may sit, share, sing, write, draw, meditate, and dance with nature and share the deep silence of the heart. As in all Pilgrimages, challenges will rise; we hope that with support and guidance these will become deep blessings for us to take home.
